Guide Review - Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of World War 2
Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of World War 2 follows up a good expansion pack Road to Rome even better. It includes new game play modes, the most secret weapons of World War 2, and of course, the same addicting multiplayer capability.
The biggest added feature with BF1942:SW are the new objective based game play modes. If you're tired of the same old capturing an outpost only to see one on the other side of the map fall into enemy hands then this expansion is for you. The objective based modes are just that, you are given a set of objectives to complete in order for your side to win. Watch out though the objective of the other team is to prevent you from completing yours. Similar to Call of Duty's Retrieval or Search and Destroy modes, it adds a great new aspect to the multiplayer experience.
Secret weapons and vehicles abound in BF1942:SW new vehicles include things such as The Natter rocket plane, Wasserfall anti-air missile, and AW-52 advanced fighter, and many more. The new game maps are also very well detailed and offer new settings such as eastern European city of Prague, and the cold winter of Norway.
Secret Weapons of World War 2 is an expansion, so it does require the original Battlefield 1942 in order to play. The graphics have not been updated, with BF1942 approaching 3 years old they are becoming a little dated when compared with some of the new FPS due out this year. Overall though BF1942:SW scores very high marks across the board.
